Bridge Holidays

The Ardington is the ideal venue for a Bridge Break. You may wish to join one of John Taylor's weekends which are EBU licensed with masterpoints being awarded. Alternatively, one of Paul Wilson's events which are non masterpointed and include Chicago, duplicate and supervised rubber bridge.

If you prefer not to join a public event but would like a weekend of bridge with your club members only, then consider a private weekend of Bridge. You determine the weekend's timetable and composition, we provide all the comforts and services you require.

For Bridge visitors the Ardington offers:

  • A privately owned AA 3 stars 80% Merit score.
  • A top quality cuisine with The Indigo Restaurant offering a high standard of cuisine and service and special menus for the occasion.
  • A town centre location, promenade and pier 100 metres away, shopping centre and all amenities 400 metres away.
  • There are numerous complimentary car parking options available both outside the hotel in Steyne Gardens and at the High Street NCP Car Park (100 metres away).
  • Ground and first floor accommodation only, including 18 single bedrooms with no single supplement.
  • 3 different bridge rooms (two overlooking the Steyne Gardens one with own private courtyard garden) able to accommodate between 10 and 12 tables per room and offering ample natural light as well as supplementary crisp, versatile, low voltage lighting systems and air conditioning.
  • Personalised weekends comprising of the items above and facilities you require, a tariff then being formulated accordingly.
  • Complimentary availability of 14 Bridge tables.

John Taylor Masterpoint Weekend Breaks 2011/2012

Formerly directed by Tony and Mina Warlow until their retirement, these weekends offer competitive bridge players the possibility to earn masterpoints and prizes in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. For the less competitive, the option of playing bridge with more experienced players whilst enjoying the pampering of our staff and facilities of the Ardington Hotel.

John has been our resident directors now for 8 years and has established a loyal following of players in addition to those he inherited from Tony and Mina. This popularity being reflected by the average number of tables per weekend being ten.

All prices are for 2/3 nights unless otherwise stated. When appropriate, Sunday night rates are available at a significantly reduced tariff.
 
Prices are per person and include Friday evening reception with canapes, all meals, morning coffee and afternoon tea and all Bridge.
 
There are no single supplements. Subject to circumstances, double bedrooms are available for single occupancy for a supplementary charge.

The weekends are not suitable for absolute beginners or single players or players without partners.

Paul Wilson Weekend Breaks 2011

Paul runs regular bridge holidays throughout the year. He provides a friendly and relaxing two or three night weekend of bridge in comfortable hotels with good facilities and service. The varied bridge programme is suitable for all standards and includes Chicago, duplicate, supervised rubber and a seminar with Paul who is a qualified EBUTA Professional Level Tutor.

Friday June 10th to Monday 13th 2011 (3 Nights) £225.00 per person (*)
Provisional weekend 18-21 November (to be confirmend in the summer)

(*) Small en suite single, £195.00 for the weekend.
Standard Double Bedroom for sole occupancy £273 for the weekend.
Premium Double Bedroom for sole occupancy price upon application.
Premium Double/Twin for Double Occupancy, supplement per person for the weekend £30.00.
 

Prices include drinks and Canapés reception on the Friday evening, all meals (excluding Saturday lunch), morning coffee and biscuits, afternoon tea and cake, all bridge.

The bridge room is non smoking.

Private club Weekends

Private club weekends are welcome, each is bespoke with the hotel operation being arranged around the services required and expectations of the resident bridge club. Throughout your association with the Ardington from the enquiry stage through until arrival at the hotel, you will have only one point of contact - Richard Margaroli. Once your meal requirements and timetable have been established, a competitive tariff is quoted which will hopefully encourage a no obligation, complimentary reconnaissance visit to be arranged.

Amongst other attributes, which make the Ardington particularly suitable for Bridge weekends are the following:
